Liberties College offers a range of support services to assist students in the enjoyable and successful completion of their course.

Career Guidance

Career and Educational Guidance is available to all students on both individual and group basis. Career talks are organised throughout the year. Where possible arrangements are made for students to attend Open Days in Third Level colleges. Guidance is provided for application through the CAO, UCAS and through the Higher Education Links Scheme.

Counselling

Students experiencing personal difficulties can avail of confidential counselling through the Counselling Service.

Learning Support

The Learning Support team is there to help students achieve their potential. Students with specific learning difficulties may be entitled to additional supports and services to successfully complete their programme of choice. Funding for supports such as tuition, classroom assistance and adaptive technology may be available from the Higher Education Authority. Student Council

Each class group elects a representative to the Student Council. The members of the Student Council selecta representative to the College Board of Management. The Student Council is a recognised body and highlights issues of concern within the student body. The Student Council is also involved in the social life of the College, organising and developing social activities, promoting participation in events organised by the CDETB Sports and Cultural Council.

Sports and Cultural Council

The City of Dublin Education and Training Board (CDETB) Sports and Cultural Council (SCC) is a unique body in the Irish Vocational Educational system. Founded 75 years ago, in 1935, the City of Dublin Education and Training Board’s Sports and Cultural Council promotes and co-ordinates inter-school sporting and cultural events for the 12,000 students in the CDETB’s 22 schools and colleges, as well as, in the Prison Service. Students are provided with an extensive programme of activities that range from Boxing to Public Speaking, with various competitions, festivals and exhibitions organised by 27 sub-committees.

Student Identity Card

A student identity card, with your photograph and identifying you as a student of Liberties College is available to all full-time students.

WHAT ABOUT FEES?

There are no tuition fees for students who are citizens of Ireland or another European Union State. For all students there is a moderate course charge to cover expenses such as examination fees and specialist materials supplied directly to students.

From 2011, as required by government legislation, a charge of €200 (in addition to the course charge) will be payable by all Post Leaving Cert (PLC) students. There will be some exemptions and reliefs.

Contact the Admissions Office for an up-to-date listing of course charges. Candidates who are non-EU citizens should contact the College for details of entry conditions.

STUDENT GRANTS

Students may be eligible for a means tested maintenance grant under the Maintenance Grants Scheme for students attending Post Leaving Certificate Courses. General information and application details may be obtained on www.susi.ie. You can submit your application for a Maintenance Grant once you have secured a College place. Candidates are advised to apply for a grant as soon as they have secured a College place in order to have time to submit all documents required. More information on the Student Grants page.
