Montessori Diploma with Supervision in Childcare - Advanced
(Previously known as Montessori Diploma 6-12 years)
This course enables students with
previous Montessori experience to study the Montessori Method at
an advanced level in combination with the FETAC Level 6 programme
in Childcare (Supervision).Building on further study of early childhood
care and education, the course broadens understanding of the Montessori
Method to cover the education of children up to the age of 12. The
course qualifies holders to work as Montessori teachers with children
from nursery age to 12 years and progress to supervisory and management
positions within the childcare sector.

1 year full-time
Entry
Applicants should have successfully completed a Montessori Nursery
course accredited by AMS, FETAC, AMI, St Nicholas or recognised
college
In addition it is desirable that the applicants should hold a FETAC
Childcare Award at Level 5, or its equivalent. This requirement
maybe waived for mature students.

of the course
· Teaching Practice in a variety of settings catering for
the needs of children up to twelve years of age, with block weeks
in December and May ( a total of 350 hours practice)
· College based programmes of study in Montessori Philosophy
and Method and in supervisory management skills for Childcare.
· An intensive mentoring programme to assist students to
reach their full potential as Montessori advanced practitioners
and as leaders in the provision of quality childcare.
· The standard of training is assessed and regulated by and
extern committee of Montessori/Childcare professional advisors and
examiners and by FETAC External Examiners for the Supervision Component.

Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday in college with Wednesday on
placement.
