10. Montessori Diploma (2 ½ - 6 Years)

This one-year full time course is suited to students with previous experience or training in Childcare. It covers the Montessori Philosophy and Curriculum and prepares students to work as Montessori Teachers.

Duration
1 Year full-time

Entry
This course is open to students who have completed a FETAC Level 5
Award in Childcare - or its equivalent (e.g. CACHE/NNEB, NCEA Childcare,
City and Guilds Level 2).
Note: This requirement may be waived, at the discretion of the college, for mature students with suitable prior experience.

Features of the Course

- Students acquire a good understanding of the Educational Method and Philosophy established by Maria Montessori and become competent in the use of this method with children in the 2½ - 6 age range.
- Placement in Montessori schools four mornings each week and one month block placement.
- A college based programme of study and lectures in the Montessori Philosophy and.Curriculum.
- Quality training is assured by an extern committee of professional advisers and
examiners.
