Infant and Childcare Practise (Advanced Certificate)

FETAC Level 5 Childcare (DCHSC)
Level 6 Childcare Supervisor (DCXXX) (Advanced Certificate)


This two-year course offers new options in Childcare training at level 6 (supervisor / experienced practitioner). The course pays particular attentation to the care of infants. The course is suitable for learners wishing to gain the Advanced Certificate while focusing on the role of the experienced practitioner in everyday and specialised Childcare settings across an age range from 0-8years.

Features of the Course

-This course is designed for people who wish to work toward leadership positions in care teams and accept positions caring for children in special settings.
- Students gain a comprehensive understanding of childcare practise, assessment and supervision.
- The course strongly links theory and practise, providing 120 days in supervised practical training placements.
- Experience is gained in the care of infants, toddlers and pre-school children, and with primary school children in infant classes and after school care.
- Experience is gained in Early Start programmes and in Child and Family Community Services.
