Department of Childhood Studies and Montessori

Welcome to the Department of Childhood Studies and Montessori, our range of courses are as follows:

Childhood Studies and Montessori
Childcare Certificate
- FETAC
This full-time course enables students to combine the study of Childcare (0-7 years) and Montessori Method (2½-6 years).
The course is ideally suited to school leavers or anyone new to the area of early childhood education.
Childcare Management This one-year course is suited to students with previous experience or training in Childcare who wish to progress to positions at supervisory or management level.
Childcare Diploma CACHE / NNEB The CACHE Diploma in Childcare and Education (DCE) is an internationally recognized and respected qualification. This Diploma permits the graduate to work as a nursery nurse and take up supervisory positions in most childcare establishments in Ireland and abroad. The employment prospects for a qualified nursery nurse are excellent.
Infant and Childcare
Practise
This two-year course offers new options in Childcare training at level 6 (supervisor / experienced practitioner). The course pays particular attentation to the care of infants. The course is suitable for learners wishing to gain the Advanced Certificate while focusing on the role of the experienced practitioner in everyday and specialised Childcare settings across an age range from 0-8years
Working with School
Age Children
This new FETAC Award has been created to meet a growing need for people trained to work with children of school age (4-16Yrs) in out -of-school and after school settings. Work with School Age Children may be a part of Childcare ( After School Care), be community based (in Homework Clubs or other organisations) or be offered through cultural, leisure or sporting activities.
Care of the Special Child - Special Needs Assistant  In this course students specialise in the care of the child or adult with a mental or physical disability. This is a joint training programme between the Central Remedial Clinic Clontarf and Liberties College.
Montessori and Childcare
- FETAC
This full-time course enables students to combine the study of Childcare (0-7 years) and Montessori Method (2½-6 years).
The course is ideally suited to school leavers or anyone new to the area of early childhood education.
Montessori Diploma
(2 ½ - 6 years)
This one-year full time course is suited to students with previous experience or training in Childcare. It covers the Montessori Philosophy and Curriculum and prepares students to work as Montessori Teachers.
Montessori Diploma
with Supervision in Childcare - Advanced
This one-year full time course is suited to students with previous experience or training in Childcare. It covers the Montessori Philosophy and Curriculum and prepares students to work as Montessori Teachers.
