12. Youth and Community Work
FETAC Level 5 Youth Studies EYXXX

A course suitable for people seeking initial training in youth and community work and those with some experience who wish to undertake structured training to develop and consolidate their skills. This is a joint training programme the between City of Dublin Youth Services Board and Liberties College.

Duration

2 years full-time

Entry

It is a mandatory requirement of this programme that applicants have at least ten hours voluntary experience in youth work, which may include membership in a youth organisation/club. A supporting reference from the youth sector is required. Relevant experience will be accepted in place of examination qualifications.

Certificate in First Aid
For students over 23 or those who meet matriculation requirements:-
N.U.I Certificate - Youth Studies

City of Dublin Youth Service Board

This is a State Funded agency operated by the CDVEC, with responsibility for the co-ordination of youth services within communities in the City of Dublin. Those who successfully complete this Award will be eligible to apply for positions as "Activities Co - ordinator" in City of Dublin Youth Service Board funded projects.

- Students address, theoretically and practically, the personal and social issues that impact on young people and their communities e.g. drug abuse, social exclusion, poverty ..and unemployment.
