Care Assistant

This
course prepares the student to work as a Healthcare Assistant
(HCA) in the health sector. In hospitals the HCA works under
supervision, as a menber of the care team, assisting nurses
and midwives. This is the strand of the HCA Programme focusing
on the work of the HCA as a member of the hospital care team. |
Health
Care Assistant
- Community Hospitals; Care of Older People; Intellectual Disability |
This
is the community strand of the Healthcare Asistant programme.
The HCA plays a key role in teams supporting appropriate health
care for people who are living in care or accessing support
services in the community, due to fraility, disability or a
long term need for a supported living enviroment.
This care is provided in community hospitals, nursing homes
and in nursing units within caring institutions. |
| Youth
and Community Work
|
A
course suitable for people seeking initial training in youth
and community work and those with some experience who wish to
undertake structured training to develop and consolidate their
skills. This is a joint training programme between the City
of Dublin Youth Services Board and Liberties College. |
| Applied
Social Studies |
This
course provides an introduction to the theory and practice of
social studies and social care. The course will interest, among
others students wishing to gain theoretical knowledge and practical
experience before applying for third level college places in
Social Care. |
| Counselling
- Foundation Studies |
This
is an introduction to Counselling Skills for the workplace.
The course focuses on the personal development and inter-personal
skills of the participant through experimental learning and
academic studies. |
| Counselling
- Professional Studies |
This
is a comprehensive two-year full-time professional counselling
course with a strong commitment to community based work.
The course offers core training to a wide range of people. While
building on existing skills the course proposes to model and
teach a person centred philosophy of counselling. |
