Counselling - Professional Studies
The course has been developed
to meet the training needs of voluntary and community organisations
and to offer training in counselling to a wide range of people.
The course models and teaches a person-centred approach to counselling.
Duration
2 Years full-time
Entry
Application is limited to mature students with an established interest
in and commitment to counselling. Applications should be supported
by curriculum vitae and details of experience. Preference will ordinarily
be given to applicants holding at the time of application the Certificate
in Counselling Skills awarded by NUI Maynooth or equivalent qualification.
Courses 16, 17 & 18 lead to equivalent qualifications.
Next Intake 2009
This course is run on the basis of a two-year course cyclical intake.
The next intake will be in Septembr 2009. Candidates should apply
from February 2009 onwards.

Features of the Course
• A broad theoretical background to counselling is offered
but the major emphasis is on person-centred theory and practice.
• Participants should:

their work
- be ready to meet the demands of a full-time intensive counselling
course
- preferably, have access to a client base.
