Purpose of the Course:
This 3-day course is suitable for individuals who have no experience of making textiles but have always wanted to try
it out. It is a practical course, which, teaches the basic techniques and helps you to understand some of the key
elements of design.
The objective being that students will get an overview of skills in textile, stitch, and an introduction to research
methods and notebook development. On completion of the three days all participants will have, a series of finished
samples based on the skills worked through over the three-day course.
Course Content:
Students will receive tuition in the following textile techniques;
- Introduction to history of textiles and stitch
- Notebook Work & Mark-making
- Print work and Natural Dying
- Hand stitching, Appliqué & Quilting

What to bring
A recommended list of equipment/ materials are advised as follows:
Materials/Equipment List:
- Paper scissors, glue and masking tape
- Sheets of card and paper
- White cotton fabric x 2mtr2
- Sewing kit to include: Hand sewing Needles including embroidery needles, Pins, Embroidery thread, fabric scissors
Entry Requirements:
This course is suitable for those with no previous experience in stitching or textile design.
Application and Enrolment
Application is by enrolment. Enrolment will take place on the 4th and 11th Sep. from 6pm to 8pm in Liberties College.
Payment is by cash or cheque made out to the City of Dublin ETB, Credit Card payments also accepted over the
phone. Applicants will be required to enrol and pay the full fee, prior to commencement of the course
