A course suitable for people seeking initial training in youth and community work and those with some experience who wish to undertake structured training to develop and consolidate their skills. This programme is supported by City of Dublin Youth Services Board and The National Youth Council of Ireland.

FETAC Level 7 National University of Ireland *Certificate in Youth Work Studies (for students who meet matriculation requirements; this award carries 20 credits under ECTS)

Entry

It is a mandatory requirement of this programme that applicants have voluntary experience in youth work and a supporting reference in youth or community work.

Features of the course

  • Students address, both theoretically and practically, the personal and social issues that impact on young people and their communities e.g. drug abuse, social exclusion, poverty and unemployment. 
  • Specialist workshops:
    – Child Protection Training (City of Dublin Youth Service Board) 
  • An introduction to Outdoor Education with young people. 
  • Garda vetting for work experience.
