Portfolio Preparation in 3D Art and Design

 
A one-year foundation course in 3D design and visual communications. Students work in a range of media focusing on the completion of work to the standard required for entry to Art and Design courses in thirdlevel colleges. There is a particular emphasis on the presentation of 3D work in a balanced portfolio.

Students are requested to bring the following to the interveiw:

  • Two samples of drawings of Natural Objects
    (drawn from real objects not photographs) 
  • Two samples of drawings of Man-made Objects
    (drawn from real objects not photographs) 
  • One sample of Figurative Drawing from life

Features of the course

  • Emphasis on developing critical analysis, design awareness and problem solving skills.
  • Experience in the use of a wide range of hand-tools and specialist work-shop practices.
  • Work-shop areas for carving and figurative sculpture.
  • End of year exhibition.
