Purpose of the Course:
This course will enable the student to develop a knowledge and understanding of the functions and structure of the
human body. The course is suitable for students who need a science subject to enable them to apply for nursing. It is
also suitable for those working in the healthcare sector, community care, beauty therapy and sports/wellbeing
sectors to gain a greater understanding of the structure and functions of the body.
Course Content:
5N0749 Anatomy and Physiology
Topics include the following;
- Understanding the anatomy & physiology of the human body
- Exploring the skeletal and muscular system
- Investigating the circulatory and lymphatic system
- Understanding the relationship between human nutrition, digestion and metabolism
- Learning about the organs and bodily functions to include;
o Respiratory system
o Brain and nervous system
o Endocrine system
o Reproductive system
o Urinary system
Assessment will consist as follows;
Two written assignments at 40% together with a Theory Based Examination at 60%.

Entry Requirements:
Applicants must have Leaving Certificate or equivalent qualification and/or relevant life experience
Enrolment:
Application is by enrolment. Enrolment will take place on the 15th and 22nd Jan. from 6pm to 8pm in Liberties College. Payment is by cash or cheque made out to the City of Dublin ETB. Applicants will be required to enrol and pay the full fee, prior to commencement of the course
